FR Engineering Centre is the flagship of fire robotics in Russia. For 40 years, the company has been protecting unique, particularly dangerous and technically complex facilities in the oil and gas and chemical industries, woodworking, large shopping malls and cultural monuments, developing and manufacturing fire extinguishing equipment. Alexander Sokur, Head of the Design Department at EFER Engineering Centre for Fire Robots Technologies, told the editorial staff about robotic fire suppression systems.
 
 

The article provides an overview of robotic fire extinguishing systems, analyzes the principles of operation of modern vision systems, and provides their advantages and disadvantages.

The problematic issues of the organization of fire extinguishing process in the engine rooms of nuclear power plants are considered. The need of prompt response to the occurrence of combustion source at the initial stage is substantiated. With the existing methods of ensuring fire safety, it is not always possible to achieve this goal.
