On October 11-12, 2021, the "Safety of the Oil-and-Gas and Transport Industry 2021" International Conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Orenburg branch of VNIIPO EMERCOM of Russia was held at the FGBU VNIIPO of EMERCOM of Russia.
As part of the Сonference, a demonstration of fire-fightin devices and fire extinguishing systems, full-scale fire tests were held at the VNIIPO training ground in Balashikha, Moscow Region.
The "Engineering centre of fire robots technology "FR" successfully conducted the fire tests of an explosion-proof robotic fire suppression system used to protect explosion and fire hazardous objects in the oil-and-gas industry. The robotic fire monitors being demonstrated as part of the installation make it possible to supply water or low-expansion foam for extinguishing at a flow rate of up to 20 L/s of each. They are equipped with targeting detectors for fire detection in the IR and visible regions of the flame emission spectrum, and transmission of a video image indicating various auxiliary information to the round-the-clock duty station. Detection and suppression of the source of fire is carried out automatically, without human intervention, which allows to use the RFSSs under hard conditions dangerous for people, making the work of operational personnel and firefighters safer.
